A boat moves upstream at the rate of 1 km in 20 minutes and down stream 1 km in 12 minutes. The speed of the current is :

6.5kmph
8 kmph
1 kmph
2 kmph
Explanation:
Speed upstream = 1 km in 20 minutes.
So the upstream speed in km per hour = (1 / 20) * 60 = 3 km/hr
Speed downstream = 1 km in 12 m
So the downstream speed in km per hour = (1 / 12 )* 60 = 5 km/hr
Therefore speed of the current = (5 - 3)/2 km/hr = 1 km/hr
