Easy Tutorial
For Competitive Exams

In a 100 m race, A can beat B by 25 m and B can beat C by 4 m. In the same race, A can beat C by:

21 m
26 m
28 m
29 m
Explanation:

A : B = 100 : 75

B : C = 100 : 96.

$\therefore$ A : C =$ \left(\dfrac{A}{B} \times\dfrac{B}{C} \right) $=$ \left(\dfrac{100}{75} \times\dfrac{100}{96} \right) $=$ \dfrac{100}{72} $= 100 : 72.

$\therefore$ A beats C by $\left(100 - 72\right)$ m = 28 m.
